Gary is a Senior Associate and Senior Engineering Geologist at Douglas Partners Pty Ltd with over 35 years experience in geotechnical engineering consulting. Gary has worked extensively in southeast Queensland and northern NSW as well as throughout Asia and the Pacific region including works in Papua New Guinea, Vietnam, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Indonesia and Taiwan. Gary graduated in 1987 after which he joined a Brisbane based geotechnical consultancy company.
After several years Gary joined a French based multi-disciplined engineering company in Hong Kong where he lead a geotechnical team working on, amongst other projects, the Chep Lap Kok Airport reclamation. Gary left Hong Kong to work for the an Australian based geotechnical consultancy company in Vietnam as their in country representative. Gary then returned from Asia to Australia working for several geotechnical consultancy practices on the Gold Coast before joining Douglas Partners. Gary has been with Douglas Partners since 2013 working out of the Gold Coast office and is currently Branch Manager.
He is a Gold Coast ‘local’ with intrinsic knowledge of the Gold Coast and Northern Rivers subsurface conditions as well as local Council requirements and he has been involved with numerous and broad ranging developments in both the private and public sectors including industrial complexes, residential subdivision, high-rise developments in both the private and public sectors including telecommunications towers, airport extensions, shopping centres, marinas, bridges, dams, quarry assessments and major infrastructure projects.
