Michael Gawn

Principal / Geotechnical Engineer / Director

Michael joined Douglas Partners in 1997 Michael is a Principal Geotechnical engineer and has over 27 years geotechnical engineering experience, both locally and throughout Australia. He has a Bachelor of Civil Engineering from the University of Newcastle and is a Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng). He is also on the National Engineering Register (NER) and is a Professional Engineer (PRE) in NSW.

Michael is also currently the Central NSW Regional Manager. In his various roles with Douglas Partners, Michael has been the Branch Manager for both our Townsville and Central Coast offices. Michael has also worked in the Darwin Douglas Partners office.

Over the years Michael has developed an interest and expertise in a number of fields in geotechnics including slope stability and slope remediation, foundations, pavements, large scale residential subdivisions, mine subsidence, transmission line and renewable energy.  Michael also has a keen interest in environmental engineering, and in particular landfill gas assessment, effluent disposal and acid sulfate soil.

With a particular passion for innovation and efficiency Michael has been a long term facilitator of our digital best practice group. This has included developing and implementing a range of initiatives aimed at ensuring that Douglas Partners and the Douglas Group are market leaders in digital engineering, for the full project cycle, from field data acquisition, management and analysis to efficient and effective reporting of our data and advice.

When on leave, Michael has a passion for travel and enjoys exploring other parts of the world and experiencing their cultures.
