Oran Park

A Masterplanned Community with Douglas Partners’ Expertise Behind Its Growth

Located in Sydney’s fast-expanding Southwest, Oran Park stands as one of Australia’s most dynamic town centres.

This masterplanned community, initiated through a collaboration between Landcom and Greenfields Development Company, is now home to over 20,000 residents. As Oran Park grows, Douglas Partners continues to play an integral role providing geotechnical and environmental expertise to support its development.

The Evolution of Oran Park

What once was a dairy farm and an iconic motor racing track has transformed into a bustling community featuring a mix of single and double-storey homes, townhouses, and multistorey apartments. Oran Park offers its residents a high standard of living, supported by a central shopping hub, extensive parks, schools, and state-of-the-art sporting facilities. The town centre continues to expand, with the community planning an extension of the Southwest train line from the Western Sydney Aerotropolis, ensuring seamless connectivity for future residents.

Oran Park’s growth is projected to continue for another 15 to 20 years, with ongoing construction, urban planning, and infrastructural development shaping its future.

Douglas Partners’ Role in Oran Park’s Development

From the site’s initial rezoning over 15 years ago to the present day, Douglas Partners has been at the forefront of Oran Park’s development journey. Our team of experts has provided comprehensive geotechnical and environmental support for the various stages of residential and commercial construction.

Geotechnical Services

Douglas Partners has carried out hundreds of geotechnical investigations starting with a land capability assessment to support the rezoning of the land in 2007.  Since then we have excavated thousands of test pits and boreholes to support the design of nearly every house, building and road.  Whether it’s site classifications, pavement thickness designs, rock depth assessments, or geotechnical advice for medium/high rise foundation and basements, these investigations have been instrumental in assessing subsurface conditions, soil and rock quality, and groundwater behaviour. This data is critical for developers to make informed decisions about foundation designs, earthworks, and construction methods for everything from roads and basin embankments to houses and high rises.

Douglas has also provided trustworthy earthworks testing for the million+ cubic meters of controlled fill placed and hundreds of kilometres of road pavements constructed.

Environmental Services

In addition to geotechnical support, Douglas Partners has provided environmental assessments to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and public safety requirements. This includes identifying and mitigating any potential environmental risks, ensuring sustainable development practices, and safeguarding the natural surroundings for current and future residents.  Transformation of a long running racetrack into a new community required practical approaches to site investigation and remediation.   The ongoing development of farmland continues to require pragmatic approaches to remediation.

Douglas has also provided management services for imported fill ensuring that fill imported to the site meets the high standards of the developers and local Council.
